The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD), in partnership with Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service (AgriLife), is hiring a TCDD Regional Coordinator for Community Outreach to engage communities, support advocates, and expand the impact of the Council to reach all Texans. This position will be based in Overton, Texas. This position joins five other Regional Coordinators located in Amarillo, College Station, Houston, Weslaco, and Dallas.
About the Position
TCDD Regional Coordinators work collaboratively to achieve the goals and objectives in TCDD’s five-year state plan. In their roles, the coordinators work to:
- support new promising practices that promote community inclusion among individuals with disabilities;
- identify educational and training needs in the region;
- connect and collaborate with community partners, self-advocates, families and other allies to address regional needs;
- address new opportunities to achieve the Council’s mission.
TCDD Regional Coordinators maintain residency and are actively involved in the communities within their identified geographic regions of the state.
Essential Functions and Qualifications
Essential job functions for this position include the following:
- Serve as a liaison and provide guidance to regional stakeholders to build community capacity to better support individuals with DD and families.
- Build community connections and collaborate with community partners, including TCDD grantees, to share and expand best practice models.
- Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience training needs to design and implement online and in-person educational programming.
- Collect qualitative and quantitative data and public input (for example, surveys, focus groups, and in-person interviews) from individuals with DD and their families to better inform TCDD’s state plan objectives and projects.
- Identify barriers, including linguistic, cultural, and geographic access to services and supports.
- Research and review community needs, identify areas needing support to create change, and develop plans to improve programs and address areas of concern as they relate to disabilities, diversity, and inclusion.
- Demonstrate subject-matter expertise, professional confidence, and clarity when representing TCDD at regional functions.
- Coordinate the presentation of program information to regional community and professional groups to increase awareness of TCDD resources.
- Support existing and new leaders and self-advocates to connect and collaborate on advocacy and systems change initiatives.
- Engage community members to create local cross-disability and cross-cultural partnerships in the identified region.
- Track regional activities and resources in an electronic database.
- Stay informed about TCDD projects and related activities in the region.
- Prepare information documents and other products in response to requests.
- Share TCDD and other national best-practice models to build community capacity.
- Complete additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualified applicants will have:
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, public health, psychology, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Plus, an additional four years of related experience.
- Preferred Education: Master’s degree in related field and three more years of instructional design, educational technology, or related experience.
- Language: Fluency in Spanish or other languages, as needed depending on identified geographic region, is preferred.
Preferred candidates will have strong oral, written, and public speaking skills and work independently. Up to 40% of the position’s monthly responsibilities may require travel within the East Texas region. Candidates will be expected to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

- Skill in project management and strategic planning
Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
TCDD Regional Coordinators will report to the AgriLife Extension Program Officer in partnership with the TCDD Executive Director.
