The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) has issued Requests for Applications (RFA) for two new grant opportunities. These grants will help us better understand the developmental disability (DD) experience and training preferences across generational ages and enhance our capacity to conduct engagement and outreach activities throughout Texas. The deadline to apply for both RFAs is 11:59 p.m. CT on Oct. 18, 2024

You can learn more about these RFAs on the TCDD Funding Available page and find details on how to apply for them

Next Generation Engagement: How Experience Influences Advocacy

TCDD has funding available for a new grant project to better understand the disability experience and self-perceptions, preferred learning styles for education and training, and preferred advocacy methods of individuals with DD and family members across generational ages and life experiences. The Council has approved funding of up to $250,000 per year for one organization for up to two years.

Generational analysis is a method of understanding societal changes, behaviors, and attitudes through the lens of different age groups. It examines how historical events, technological advancements, cultural shifts, and economic conditions shape the values and perspectives of people born within a specific timeframe. Generations are typically identified by birth years and shared experiences. Commonly recognized cohorts include Generation Alpha, Generation Z, Millennials, Generation X, and Baby Boomers.

Enhancing Statewide Community Engagement

TCDD has funding available for a new grant project to enhance our capacity to conduct engagement and outreach activities across Texas. The Council has approved funding of up to $200,000 per year for one organization for up to three years.

The demands of our community engagement activities are growing rapidly. As TCDD grantees develop new digital products, resources, and training opportunities, TCDD has a responsibility to share these resources on a greater scale across the state. Engaging an external communications expert aligns with our objective to expand the TCDD profile, engage with state and community partners, and broaden the impact of our grant initiatives. This project represents a proactive step toward ensuring our overall communication efforts are robust and aligned with our mission.
