Texas Advocates — Advocacy Support Network

Project Goal
Educate parents of children with developmental disabilities (DD) to be effective advocates in the policymaking and legislative process.

Project Summary
This Advocacy Support Network was proposed to educate parents of children with DD in Central Texas to be effective advocates in the policymaking and legislative process. Additionally, youths ages 16-22 were to be educated to become effective self-advocates. The network would collaborate with other grassroots organizations, advocacy groups, and support groups to distribute legislative and policymaking information. The project also planned to concentrate on advocacy efforts between families and school districts.
