Project Period
September 1, 2017 — August 31, 2019
Project Objective
The project will increase the number of policy professionals in Texas with the skills, knowledge, and experience to engage in policy activities that lead to systems change at the state level so that people with developmental disabilities have greater control over their own lives. The project will provide in-depth training, high-quality mentoring and other necessary organizational supports to a Public Policy Fellow over a two year period, with the expectation the Fellow will play an instrumental role in removing or significantly eliminating barriers to employment through effective advocacy and educational awareness campaigns for Texans with disabilities. The project will result in significantly improved access to, and success in, attaining and sustaining meaningful employment that pays a competitive wage statewide.
