Project Summary
Imagine Enterprises worked with individuals with developmental disabilities (DD), their families, local communities, and medical and service providers to increase self-determination by providing information, training, technical assistance, and hands-on consultations regarding self-determination across Texas. A group of skilled self-determination trainers was assembled to hold intensive two-day trainings planned for 10 regional areas.
From April 2006 to September 2007, the Self-Determination Medicaid Waiver project conducted 15 Medicaid waiver boot camps throughout the state for 904 self-advocates, family members and community advocates, plus 166 agency and provider staff. Surveys indicated that advocates and parents became more knowledgeable about waiver services.
