Capacity Building Facilitator
[two_third]
Project Goal
Train and assist Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) grantees that provide leadership and advocacy training to people with developmental disabilities and/or family members to successfully obtain funding or other resources that increase the ability of those training activities to be sustained when grant support from TCDD ends.
Project Summary
A Circle of Ten, Inc., trainings were held for current TCDD grantees on sustainability efforts for their project once TCDD funding ended. Eight three-day seminars were held with 16 TCDD grantees in capacity-building training. The project identified additional funding opportunities for grantees to leverage.
Ten half-day trainings provided an orientation and introduction with TCDD grantees as well as local and regional partners. Workshops topics included grant writing, internet grant research, board training, and strategic planning.
Pre-training, post-training, and follow-up surveys were conducted to gauge participant satisfaction. Most participants found the material was relevant to their needs, believed it would improve their ability to self-advocate, and felt the speakers were sensitive to participants’ individual situations.
