Project Summary
The research team at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth identified information to reduce disparities in substance-use disorder treatment for people with developmental disabilities (DD). The team used the information collected through the project to inform strategies to increase access to care and improve education on substance-use disorder among people with DD.

The project included:

  • a review of research literature;
  • focus groups and surveys of service providers; and
  • an analysis of hospital and emergency room data.
