Project Goal
Increase opportunities for community inclusion for people with developmental disabilities (DD) who want to pursue careers as artists-in-residence
Project Summary
Art a Gogh Go provided training and support for artists with DD to work as teaching artists in their communities. Participants gained experience working as artists-in-residence at locations such as schools, libraries, and community centers. The project included studio-based classroom training and support for participants as they built resumes and portfolios.
Through Community Inclusion projects, organizations create opportunities and address barriers so people with DD can experience full community life. Full community inclusion is defined as participating in education, employment, and social activities in the community alongside people both with and without disabilities. Ultimately, the goal of these projects is to produce short-term and long-term systems change.
