Downs In Motion — Outreach and Development Project

Project Goal
Support a holistic and supportive environment for people with developmental disabilities (DD) through inclusive community activities and skill-building programs.

Project Summary
Outreach and Development projects help small grassroots organizations become more established to support people in their communities. Projects focus on improving access to culturally competent supports and services.

Downs In Motion built off its existing programs to develop new activities that supported people with DD in the Hispanic community of El Paso County. The organization coordinated activities such as basketball, communication etiquette, expressive arts, golf, karate, leadership and advocacy, music, sewing, and silk screen printing. The organization developed new activities through marketing and social media, resource fairs, and volunteer training initiatives.
