It’s Disability Voting Rights Week

Disability Voting Rights Week is a nonpartisan movement that advocates for accessible voting and celebrates the disability community. Held from Sept. 9-13, this week is a chance to recognize the importance of voting and make your plan for the November elections!

Voting is one of the strongest ways to participate in our democracy. Be sure that your voice is heard! TCDD will share voting information and resources this fall to help you prepare to cast your ballot. To stay updated, follow us on Instagram and Facebook for helpful video guides.

Are You Registered?

The first step to voting is registering to vote! Texas residents must register to vote at least 30 days before an election. You can check your registration status online on My Voter Portal. This website can also help you register to vote, update your name or address on your voter registration, and track a ballot sent in by mail.

Resources for Voters with Disabilities

Want to vote, but need more information? VoteTexas.gov has resources for voters with disabilities. This includes additional information about voter registration, accessible voting systems, and polling places.

If you have trouble registering to vote, call the Disability Rights Texas (DRTx) hotline at 1-888-796-VOTE (8683) or email vote@DRTX.org. DRTx staff trains people with disabilities on voting rights, surveys polling places for accessibility, works with election officials, and responds to legislative inquiries.
