The 2025 TCDD Annual Report highlights how our Council built capacity, fostered collaboration, and created impactful change for people with developmental disabilities (DD) across Texas over the past year. Along with sharing stories and accomplishments, the report provides insight into emerging needs and effective strategies to support people with DD in advocating for themselves and making decisions about their lives.
The report also includes information about TCDD’s partnership with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension (AgriLife) that develops practical solutions to remove barriers and create opportunities for people with DD, family members, service providers, and others in the disability community.
Some of the key accomplishments highlighted in the report include:
- TCDD funding supported 31 grant projects across Texas and engaged more than 10,000 people with DD, family members, health care providers, and other participants. This included nearly 3,000 people engaged in local strategy sessions organized with AgriLife’s county extension network.
- TCDD public policy staff distributed more than 3,600 Bill of the Week one-pagers to lawmakers and legislative staff at the Capitol.
- Comments shared by participants during TCDD virtual roundtables led to conversations with lawmakers and new legislation filed during the Texas legislative session.
- Nine TCDD youth ambassadors completed TCDD-led training and participated in public showcases to share their final projects that educated peers on alternatives to guardianship and medical choice-making skills.
