Baylor College of Medicine — Health Equity for People with DD

Project Goal
Establish an interprofessional center for education in the health care of adults with developmental disabilities (DD)

Project Summary
Through a new health care education center, Baylor College of Medicine Center will develop a curriculum for health providers who care for adults with DD. Baylor will also develop a statewide initiative, based on Project ECHO (Extension for Community Health Care Outcomes), for health care schools throughout Texas to incorporate DD-informed instruction into their curricula.

TCDD supports health equity projects to increase knowledge of the lived experience of people with DD and their families and to improve self-direction, accessibility, and effectiveness of treatment and supports for people with DD. These efforts promote statewide capacity building and systems change in educating and training self-advocates, family members, doctors, and other professionals.
