The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) is hiring a TCDD Regional Coordinator to engage communities, support advocates, and expand the reach and impact of the Council. This position will be based in Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Dallas. This position joins five other Regional Coordinators located in Amarillo, College Station, Corpus Christi, Weslaco, and central Texas.
About the Position
TCDD Regional Coordinators focus on achieving goals and objectives in TCDD’s Five-Year State Plan. In their roles, the coordinators work to:
- support new promising practices;
- address linguistic and cultural barriers;
- promote leadership and advocacy training among self-advocates, families and other allies;
- assist TCDD in supporting existing grantees and partners; and
- address new opportunities to achieve the Council’s mission.
TCDD Regional Coordinators maintain residency and be actively involved in the communities within their identified geographic regions of the state.
Essential Functions and Qualifications
Essential job functions for this position include the following:
- Serve as a liaison and guide regional stakeholders to build community capacity to better support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.
- Build community connections and collaborate with community partners, including TCDD grantees, to share and expand best practice models.
- Identify barriers to services and supports, including linguistic, cultural, and geographic access.
- Collect qualitative and quantitative data and public input (e.g., surveys, focus groups, in-person interviews) from individuals with IDD and their families to better inform TCDD State Plan objectives and grant projects.
- Coordinate the presentation of program information to regional community and professional groups to increase awareness of TCDD resources.
- Determine community needs, identify areas needing support to create change and develop plans to improve programs and address areas of concern as they relate to disabilities, diversity, and inclusion.
- Engage community members to create local cross-disability and cross-cultural partnerships in the identified region.
- Share TCDD and other national best practice models to build community capacity.
- Support existing and new leaders and self-advocates to connect and collaborate on advocacy and systems change initiatives.
Qualified applicants will have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Four years of related experience along with (A) knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; (B) ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others; and (C) verbal and written communication skills.
- Language: Fluency in Spanish or other languages, as needed depending on identified geographic region, is preferred.
Preferred candidates will have a strong commitment to valuing diversity and embracing inclusion; knowledge of relevant program resources at local, state, and federal levels; skill in developing effective working partnerships; and ability to research, comprehend, and effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts.

TCDD Regional Coordinators will report to the AgriLife Extension Program Officer in partnership with the TCDD Executive Director.
