HB 381 would prohibit the death penalty from being applied to a person with an intellectual disability. The bill was authored by Rep. Senfronia Thompson.
Committee hearings begin in the House and Senate, including one that considers funding for state health and human services.
During the meetings, Council members awarded funding to new and ongoing projects; visited with state lawmakers at the Texas Capitol; and engaged in discussions on disability topics.
HB 272 would update state terminology referring to individualized education program teams. The bill was authored by Rep. Julie Johnson.
