TCDD is pleased to announce the selection of Rey Valldejuli as director of budget and finance. In his role at TCDD, Rey oversees daily accounting and budget projections.
Rey was previously the deputy chief of staff of finance for the Louisiana Department of Education. There, he supervised allocations for a $9 billion state education funding formula. He also helped the department coordinate disaster recovery and continuity plans after a ransomware attack and assisted the transition of Louisiana schools from in-person classes to virtual learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before entering state government, Rey served in the U.S. Army for 11 years as an enlisted intelligence analyst and a field artillery officer. He completed three overseas tours of duty and received 15 service commendations. While serving in the Army, he graduated from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs (UCCS) Green to Gold ROTC program and Colorado Technical University (CTU).
“I am humbled to join the extremely selfless team at TCDD as we all pursue the mission of creating change so that all people with disabilities are fully included in their communities and exercise control over their own lives,” Rey said.
When not at work, Rey enjoys trying new food and traveling with his wife and twin children, Japheth and Cecilia. With his family, he also likes to attend New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans, and NOLA Gold games.
Rey was born in the Bronx borough of New York City and grew up in Hope Mills, North Carolina. He joined TCDD on May 17, 2021.
