In honor of Disability Book Week, TCDD is highlighting the work of our literacy skills grant projects and the ways they impact the lives of Texans with developmental disabilities.
With the regular session entering its final five weeks, lawmakers will soon face several bill deadlines. Find upcoming hearings to watch and bills that recently received comments from our policy staff.
HB 5206 relates to penalties for false representation of animals as service animals. The bill was authored by Rep. Vikki Goodwin.
The Senate passes SB 133, which would ban using physical restraint and chemical irritants on students enrolled in fifth grade or below; and SB 477, which would improve disability voting accommodations.
HB 773 would prohibit the practice of school-initiated undocumented early pickups. The bill was authored by Rep. Alma Allen.
SB 57 would ensure public schools have safety plans and accommodations for students with disabilities during safety drills and disasters or emergencies. The bill was authored by Sen. Judith Zaffirini.
The Texas governor appointed four new members and reappointed two current members to our Council.
