TCDD is pleased to announce the selection of Melanie Teague as a grants and contract compliance specialist. As a member of the grants management team, Teague plays a critical role in providing technical support to TCDD grantees and monitoring compliance with grant-related rules and regulations.

Teague has been a disability advocate for more than two decades. Before joining TCDD, Teague was a grant manager at the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research at Texas Tech University (TTU). Her work at the center involved programs related to autism education and training for teachers as well as rural clinical services and training in West Texas for people with autism and their families.

Teague is currently working toward a Master of Public Administration from TTU. She holds additional degrees from TTU, including a master’s in special education with a focus in applied behavior analysis and a bachelor’s in English literature and language with a minor in journalism.

“I am excited and honored to join the TCDD team, serving in a role that can help make an impact in the success of programs that continue to strive to help individuals with developmental disabilities and their families,” Teague said.

Away from work and school, Teague enjoys reading, attending concerts, and taking trips with her husband and family to state parks and the Texas Hill Country. Teague has three adult children, including a son with autism, and a new son-in-law.

Teague was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and in addition to Texas has lived in Missouri and California. She joined TCDD on Jan. 3, 2022.
