Gov. Abbott Announces New TCDD Appointments
Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed four new members and reappointed two current members to the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD). The new and reappointed members will serve terms that end Feb. 1, 2031.
The new members include:
- Edward Baffoe, Ph.D., of Forney
- Abigail “Abby” Maddux of North Richland Hills
- Wendy Maurer of Conroe
- Ashley Sattler of Beaumont
Abbott reappointed Andrew Crim of Fort Worth, who serves as the Council chair, and Eric Shahid of Somerville.
The newly appointed members take the places of four departing members, including:
- Maverick Crawford III of San Antonio (in memoriam)
- Michael Peace of Poteet
- Lora Taylor of Houston
- Kim Torres of Houston
As we welcome our new appointees, we also extend heartfelt gratitude to our departing members for their invaluable contributions to the Council and for their dedication to improving the lives of Texans with developmental disabilities (DD).
TCDD is led by a 27-member Council that includes people with DD; family members of people with DD; and representatives from state agencies, university centers for excellence in developmental disabilities, and other organizations. The Texas governor appoints Council members in accordance with the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act.
