Texas Legislative Session​s

Every two years, Texas lawmakers meet in Austin for a 140-day regular legislative session. TCDD monitors legislative activities and public policy changes that could impact programs and services for Texans with developmental disabilities (DD).

89th Texas Legislature

In 2025, the regular session of the 89th Texas Legislature is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and continue until Monday, June 2. During the 89th session, we’re sharing the following information:

  • Bill of the Week: We highlight noteworthy bills that relate to our Public Policy Priorities and other important issues for Texans with DD.
  • Video Updates on Instagram: Scott Daigle, our public policy director, shares brief Instagram videos on the latest activities from the Legislature.
  • Texas Legislative News: We provide regular updates from the Capitol, including important testimony, hearings to watch, legislative resources, and more.
  • Office Hours at the Capitol: Our policy team offers in-person office hours at the Capitol. Sign up for a 30-minute in-person meeting with TCDD staff.
