UMass Medical School — Complex Mental Health Needs and People With IDD

Project Goal
Develop a gap analysis of the mental health services available to people with developmental disabilities (DD) in Texas

Project Summary
The INDEX Program of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center at the University of Massachusetts Medical School will create a comprehensive study of service gaps in mental health care for people with DD in Texas. The project will include a survey of self-advocates and will identify strategies to address service gaps.

Through the study, the project will develop a framework to direct future research into mental health care services for people with DD. The framework will also inform decision-makers in prioritizing future programs and services based on areas of need. In addition to the analysis, the project will create an online resource for mental health care information and referrals for people with DD and service providers.
