

The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) is seeking a Business Support Specialist who will support staff and the TCDD Council in conducting general agency operations. In this role, the TCDD Business Support Specialist plans, coordinates, and performs complex work to support all agency functional areas, including:
- general Council member support;
- business operations;
- grants and contracts management;
- event management;
- records retention and inventory;
- property management and safety, including security systems;
- stakeholder engagement, and
- quality assurance.
This position reports to the TCDD Business Director and works under general supervision, with encouragement to use initiative and independent judgment.
The salary range is $4,023.16 – 5,301.33 monthly and is part of the Total Compensation Package for State of Texas Employees. Learn more about the compensation package on the State Auditor’s Office website.
Essential Functions
- Staff and Council Support: Provide support to TCDD staff and Council members on operations and administrative support functions of the agency; coordinate logistics of quarterly Council meetings including travel, meeting materials, minutes, and hybrid meeting technology; communicate with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to coordinate travel for quarterly Council meetings.
- Tracking Systems: Assist with maintaining contact management systems and monitoring activities across divisions for reporting purposes. This role may assist in data entry and evaluation and provide technical support to users.
- Records and Inventory: Assist with procurement, property management, information technology, computers, and other agency business supports including records retention, open records requests, and internal audits. Ensure records retention is recorded, maintained, transferred, and disposed of in accordance with state and federal regulations and TEA and TCDD’s schedules. The position is responsible for office safety following the State Office of Risk Management’s requirements.
- Training and Event Management: Assist Council members and TCDD staff with maintaining compliance on required trainings; coordinate event logistics related to meetings, training, continuing education, and technical assistance delivered by TCDD staff such as Disability Policy Academies, leadership and advocacy trainings, grantee summits, and other coalition meetings held both in person and virtually; and may assist with the production and distribution of virtual and on-demand modules for TCDD audiences.
- State Plan Projects: Assist the TCDD Business Director in supporting grantees, contractors, applicants, and other identified stakeholders who have business with our Council; coordinate the review, approval, reimbursement, and reporting for our stipend program. The position may coordinate other projects as needed to implement the TCDD State Plan.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have the following:
- Education: Graduation with a four-year degree in business administration or a related field.
- Experience: At least three years of experience in office management or business administration.
- Substitutions: Each additional year of related experience above the required three years may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
