As part of TCDD’s advocacy efforts to improve the service system for individuals with developmental disabilities, we have developed comprehensive flyers to provide information on bills being considered in the 87th Texas Legislature. We will update this page with additional disability-related bills as the session continues.
House Bill 168
House Bill (HB) 168 (PDF) promotes inclusive child care, guaranteeing that child care providers cannot discriminate against an infant or toddler simply because they have a disability. Providers cannot turn them away because of a disability if services can be provided with reasonable accommodation.
House Bill 3063
HB 3063 (PDF) is about establishing protections for people with disabilities who have a professional guardian and their next-of-kin. This bill honors Michael Hickson, who passed away because these protections were not in place when he got COVID-19.
