School to Work Transition Local Demonstration Project (Rio Grande Valley)
Demonstrate innovative ways to provide support and assistance to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to successfully transition from school to employment.
The Arc of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley proposed to work with the Edinburg Independent School District to demonstrate innovative ways to provide support and assistance to students with IDD to successfully transition from school to work with supports, as may be necessary. The school district stretches 25 miles outside the county seat, including rural areas and unincorporated towns. The project aimed to develop a local transition consortium and provide training and technical assistance to community stakeholders to ensure students could achieve their desired future of employment and living within their community.
