Research of Substance-Use Disorder in People With IDD
Project Goal
Collect information on the number of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who have substance-use disorders, as well as the options, recommendations, and barriers for prevention and treatment for substance-use disorders among people with IDD
Project Summary
The research team at the University of North Texas Health Science Center will identify information to reduce disparities in substance-use disorder treatment for people with IDD. The project will include a review of research literature; focus groups and surveys of service providers; and an analysis of hospital and emergency room data. Also, the research team will use the information collected through the project to inform strategies to increase access to care and improve education on substance-use disorder among people with IDD.
