Reading for All
To help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) attain and/or improve literacy skills.
Literacy United launched the Reading for All project to develop a reading intervention program for people with IDD in Tarrant County.
Reading skills are a key enabler for adults with IDD to obtain independence and self-determination. A lack of proficiency in basic reading can become a barrier to active social participation and community inclusion as it diminishes job options and quality of life for people with IDD. Adults with IDD need ongoing, explicit, consistent, and comprehensive reading instruction throughout their lives to learn and sustain reading skills.
Literacy United plans to enroll 90 participants at three sites across Tarrant County.
