The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) encourages organizations to submit proposals and share best practices with other states at the 2020 National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) Annual Conference. The deadline to submit a proposal is Sunday, March 8.
NACDD is the national association for the 56 councils on developmental disabilities (DD) across the U.S. and its territories. TCDD is a member of NACDD.
Each summer, NACDD hosts a conference so people and organizations from around the country can share the innovative programs and strategies they are implementing to support people with DD. The 2020 conference will be held July 8-10 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.
Texas organizations can submit presentation proposals so people from other states can learn about the work being done in Texas to improve the lives of people with DD. NACDD seeks proposals that relate to the 2020 conference theme: Driving Disability Advocacy for the Next 50 Years. Some examples of presentation topics are listed below.

- Self-advocacy

NACDD is interested in proposals that feature self-advocates addressing issues of importance, demonstrating leadership strategies, and impacting systems that support people with DD. This is an excellent opportunity to share the innovative work being done in Texas with a national audience that consists of DD council members and staff, self-advocates and family members, federal and state government employees, and other members of the disability and civil rights community.
