TCDD encourages you to impact your community through disability advocacy. We will continuously update this page with advocacy opportunities across Texas and ways you can get involved.
The Arc of Texas is conducting a survey to increase awareness of the importance of Medicaid waivers for people with disabilities and bring attention to the lack of available waivers in Texas. The survey is part of a campaign called Waiting on a Waiver that will also connect people with disabilities with journalists at the Austin American-Statesman for a series of investigative reports on waiting lists for Medicaid waivers in Texas.
The survey is an opportunity for self-advocates and family members to share their experiences with Medicaid waivers and waiting lists while helping The Arc of Texas raise awareness about the importance of waivers for people with developmental disabilities (DD). You can contribute to the campaign by completing the short survey, which is available online in English and Spanish.
On The Arc of Texas website, you can find additional resources and information about Medicaid waivers and the Waiting on a Waiver campaign. The Arc of Texas also created a short video, titled “Waiting on a Waiver,” that features staff members and other Texans sharing their experiences with Medicaid waivers and waiting lists.
