The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) has issued Requests for Applications (RFA) for multiple projects that will expand health-related knowledge and leadership development related to people with developmental disabilities (DD). Through the grants, organizations will create new opportunities for inclusion, leadership, and advocacy for people with DD in their communities. The deadline to apply for these grants is next Friday, May 27, 2022. You can learn more about these RFAs on the TCDD Funding Available page and find details on how to apply for them.

Health Equity for People with DD

TCDD has funding available for up to three organizations to provide training and resources to improve health equity for people with DD. The purpose of this RFA is to increase knowledge about the lived experience of people with DD and their families and to improve self-direction, accessibility, and effectiveness of treatment and supports for people with DD. Projects under this RFA will develop resources and training for people with DD, family members, doctors, and service providers to improve DD-related health care. Training programs should result in an expanded capacity to provide more access to care and better health outcomes. TCDD has approved funding for up to $150,000 per year for up to five years. Deadline to apply: May 27, 2022 | 11:59 p.m. CT Learn more and apply.

Leadership Development and Advocacy Training Led by Self-Advocates

The purpose of this RFA is to support opportunities for individuals with DD to become leaders and to expand the participation of individuals with DD in cross-disability and culturally diverse leadership coalitions. Training provided in this grant can promote self-determination and engagement in community capacity building and policy discussions at the state and local levels.

If the self-advocacy organization cannot serve as the applicant or receive funds, it may partner with an entity that can obtain the award and provide fiscal support. However, the project direction and activities must clearly be led by self-advocates. TCDD has approved funding for up to $75,000 for up to four organizations for up to five years.

Deadline: May 27, 2022 | 11:59 p.m. CT

Through this RFA, self-advocates, family members, and professionals will receive information, connect with resources, and develop policy skills to engage in the state and local issues that are important to them.

Organizations with a previous TCDD leadership and advocacy training in rural areas grant are not eligible to apply. TCDD has approved funding of up to $75,000 per year for up to five years. TCDD may fund up to four projects under this RFA.
